Dr. Patt conducts research on insect behavior and ecology.  He uses this information to develop sustainable control measures for insect pests of citrus and other subtropical orchard crops.  Current focus includes the development of bioassays to measure the behavioral responses of Asian citrus psyllid to scent attractants and repellents.  Recent advances include discovery of novel synthetic aromatics that will improve our ability to detect, monitor, and control this important pest.
