Matt A. Sanderson is the Research Leader at the USDA-ARS Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory in Mandan, ND. Dr. Sanderson has degrees from North Dakota State University and Iowa State University and was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Missouri. From 1988 to 1996 he was on the faculty of Texas A&M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Stephenville, TX. From 1996 to 2010, he was a research agronomist and lead scientist with the USDA-ARS Pasture Systems and Watershed Management Research Unit in University Park, PA where he did research on forage and pasture management, warm-season grasses for conservation and bioenergy, and grassland diversity. Dr. Sanderson is a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America. As Research Leader and Laboratory Director, he supervises the 2400 acre USDA-ARS facility and its staff with research in sustainable systems for the northern Great Plains.
