Research Project: IRRIGATION METHOD AND SUBSTRATE COMPOSITION FOR NUTRIENT AND WATER USE EFFICIENCY FOR CONTAINERIZED NURSERY CROPS Project Number: 6618-13000-004-01
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 26, 2007
End Date: Sep 25, 2012

Objective:
The objectives of this cooperative research project are to assess irrigation method (scheduling) and substrate composition on plant growth and physiology, on water efficiency, and on substrate physical and chemical properties for selected containerized nursery crops.

Approach:
Record effluent volume and calculate water use efficiency, determine top and root growth, determine plant tissue and substrate nutrient content, for selected containerized nursery crops under various irrigation schedules (volume and timing) and substrate compositions (varying components). Measure physical characteristics of test container substrates.
